As you already know, we really enjoy checking out and testing new gear at MOTUS. Here’s a tool that just made it on our “must test” list for some of our upcoming adventures – the 5.11 Tactical Operator Axe. Designed exclusively with Kyle Lamb of Viking Tactics, the Operator Axe is a beast of a tool with a whole lot of usefulness built right in.
The Operator Axe features a whopping 24 functional tools and is made from SCM 435 stainless steel. The pry bar or axe head can be used to pry, chop, and rip just about anything open. In addition, the bearded Operator Axe also features a wrench, socket slots, metric and standard markings, as well as hex wrench openings. We’ll let Kyle Lamb break it down for you …
It’s subdued black oxide finish is subtle and doesn’t scream, “Hey, look at me!” when you pull this beast out. The axe also has a jimped shaft and handle for optimal grip and comes with an ambidextrous, belt and MOLLE-compatible sheath to you can easily mount and secure it when not in use. Overall, the Operator Axe measures 15″ long and weighs just 1 pounds, 10 ounces without the sheath and 1 pound, 15 ounces with the sheath.
