Buff Fall Preview

If you’re not already familiar with Buff, they are a leading manufacturer of performance headwear founded more than 20 years ago in Spain. It all started when Joan Rojas was riding his motorcycle through the Catalan back roads. It was then that inspiration hit him and he wanted to create a better piece of headgear to combat the sun, wind, and dust. A few months and prototypes later, the original Buff was created. Now Buff products are available in over 60 countries and used by elite athletes, motorcyclist, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.

Original BuffAs the temperatures start to cool we look towards more fall and winter activities, it’s time to start thinking about cold weather gear. One area that is particularly important is keeping your head warm. Crushing the slopes or winter wheeling in a UTV or open top Jeep is no fun at all if your face is frozen frostbite is setting in. Fortunately, Buff has launched an entire new hat collection for winter activities updated some of their existing collections. Let’s take a closer look and see what’s new …

The new Hat Collection was the natural next step for Buff after decades of perfecting tubular headwear. The new collection features high-peformance fabrics in everything from clean and simple and edgy designs. The new hats are divided into three categories: Active, Tech, and Lifestyle.

Buff Active HatsACTIVE HATS ($27 – $35)
Active Hats provide everyday versatility and are inspired by the original seamless tubular Buff. They come Buff’s most popular fabrics (Microfiber, Merino Wool, and Polartec fleece) and are designed for low to medium intensity activities. Two of our favorites are the Merino Wool Hat in Cedar and the Thermal in Graphite for when it gets really chilly.

Buff Tech HatsTECH HATS ($25 – $39)
Buff’s Tech Hats combine high-performance fabrics like GORE Windstopper and Ketten with sleek, clean fits for intense activities in harsh weather environments. They are designed to keep you warmer, longer. There are four styles of Tech Hats based upon the material they are made of: Coolmax, XDCS, Ketten, and Windproof. Coolmax will manage moisture and keep you dry while XDCS provides optimal protection from cold and wind. The Ketten will keep you warm and toasty when temperatures really take a dive while the Windproof is an excellent choice for those who love high altitude or extreme cold winter sports. Check out the XDCX Tech Hat in Black or the Windproof Tech in Mossy Oak for starters.

Buff Lifestyle HatsLIFESTYLE HATS ($29 – $40)
The Lifestyle Collection of hats features trendy silhouettes, bulky yarns, and are made from materials designed for relaxing around the cabin or taking an evening stroll. The Lifestyle Collection is broken down into: Knitted Hats, Knitted Slouchy Hats, Knitted and Polar Slouchy Hats, Knitted Pom Pom Hats, and Knitted Neckwarmer Hats. While pom poms aren’t really our thing, we can get down the with Knitted and Polar Slouchy Hat in Drip Graphite for chilling around the fire or knocking back a couple bourbons at the local tavern while on winter vacation.

Buff Knitted and Polar Fleece NeckwarmersUPDATED: KNITTED & POLAR FLEECE NECKWARMERS ($33 – $37)
These neckwarmers combine an outer layer of knitted fabric with an inner layer of high-loft fleece of added comfort. The two-way lateral stretch allows the neckwarmer to stay in place without feeling confining or constrictive. The end result is a warm, wind-resistant layer that’s ideal for the colder months ahead. You can wear it as a neckerchief, face mask, or neck gaitor. While the Knitted and Polar Fleece Neckwarmers aren’t new to BUFF, they have more than doubled the size of the previous collection with the addition of seven new styles. Some of the new styles available are Lile Brown, Ovel Black, and Margo Grey.

Windproof BuffUPDATED: WINDPROOF BUFF ($43 – $45)
Perfect for those of us that like high-speed in cold temperatures, the Windproof Buff neckwarmer combines GORE Windstopper fabric with soft, moisture wicking microfiber and strategically placed fleece. Whether you’re blazing dirt trails on your dirt bike or shredding some powder, you’ll be ready to tackle even the most wicked wind with a Windproof Buff. New for Fall 2015 is solid black, but we’re digging the Tornado pattern that we picked up for some upcoming adventures.
