Earlier this year, we reached out to the MOTUS tribe in order to raise some much-needed funds for Team 5. Through the sale of a limited edition mission patch, we able to send this incredible non-profit on a medical mission to Central America. If you’re not already familiar with Team 5, they are a group comprised of Special Forces medical practitioners (MD’s and RNs), survival experts and civilian ultra-athletes that venture to the most extreme, overlooked and remote locations on the globe to provide needed medical assistance. Not only do they provide medical care, but they stress the importance of medical training to the remote regions they visit and education is key to the success of their mission.
Today we are proud to present to you the fruits of your labor. In the two-part video below, episodes 6 and 7 of this season’s Expedition Overland series, you’ll see firsthand exactly how your hard-earned dollars made the difference in the lives of others. After overlanding from Belize to Guatemala, and then on to El Salvador, Team 5 ran a two-day remote medical clinic where they saw over 100 medical and dental patients. They taught the local indigenous healthcare providers everything from midwifery to basic surgery and wilderness medicine, all while focusing on their main goal of educating these regions to become self-sufficient. Also, you’ll see the powerful story of how Team 5 forever changed the life of a little 9-year-old Mayan girl.
We hope that you enjoy the videos as much as we did. If they strike a chord within you, please consider supporting Team 5 and their future missions. They are the only SOFMED foundation of their kind and they truly are making a difference in the world. However, it can’t be done with the incredible support of people like yourself and the many great companies and organizations who donate time, resources, and dollars to their cause.
