REACTOR Watches has recently launched their Gryphon Watch ($350). Known for their durable and progressively styled sport watches, REACTOR’s Gryphon Watch is supposed to be the “toughest tactical watch ever created.” Let’s take a closer look.
The Gryphon Watch has a 42mm wide case and comes with a quartz movement powered by a 10-year lithium power cell. It’s been depth tested to 200M (660 ft.). The Gryphon is a hybrid watch that combines a space age Nitromid cover, a glass-reinforced polymer with a tensile strength higher than steel, and a stainless steel core. REACTOR says, “The result is a watch with improved durability and impact resistance that has the watertight capabilities of a fully stainless steel version at half the weight.”
The REACTOR Gryphon Watch also comes with REACTOR’s patented Never Dark illumination technology. According to REACTOR, “Never Dark is the first technology to combine the intense brightness of Superluminova with the multi-year longevity of tritium, providing optimal illumination under all lighting conditions. Because it can take up to 30 minutes for the human eye to fully adjust to the dark, Superluminova’s intense peak brightness makes a Never Dark watch easily visible during that initial adjustment period.” The tritium markers will also remain visible for years if the watch remains in ultra dark conditions. The Gryphon was designed from be the one of the “best built performance sport watches” on the market. In addition to the Nitromid polymer case, the watch has a stainless steel crown and case back. The watch also has solid screw bars and free-floating lugs. The strap is made of co-molded nylon and rubber. It features the company’s proprietary silicone and natural rubber compound. This is designed specifically to block the watchband from absorbing odor and dirt while being extremely comfortable on the wrist.
The REACTOR Gryphon Watch is now available in the following colors: black, blue, orange, red, flat dark earth, and urban camo. The dial colors coordinate with matching co-molded bands. MSRP on the Gryphon is $350. If you would like more information on the watch, or to find your local REACTOR retailer, please visit the company’s website.
