While there is nothing quite like the feeling an open air Jeep, many soft top Wrangler JK and JKU owners often struggle with transporting their gear to and from the trailhead or campsite. Fortunately, Rugged Ridge has released an innovative, industry-first design that gives soft top owners all the joy of top-down driving and the utility of a functional, easy-to-use roof rack. It’s called the Exo-Top and it might just be exactly what you’re looking for.
The patent-pending Exo-Top is a direct bolt-on application with no drilling or modifications from stock required. The all-new top allows Jeep owners to conveniently lower, raise or remove the Jeep’s soft top with ease all without having to remove or unload any gear or cargo from the roof rack. It also features an innovative Sun Slider retractable function. The front panel of the top over the driver and passenger can slide back with the release of just two clips. This creates an open-top experiences without ever having to get out of the driver’s seat.
The integrated roof rack has a load capacity of 300 pounds so you can get your kayaks to the beach or mountain bikes to the trail with ease. It’s also compatible with most standard rack attachments and accessories so you’re not limited by a proprietary design and can take full advantage of any attachments you may already own.
According to Patrick Bennett, Product Development Manager at Omix-ADA, “What’s great about the Exo-Top is the freedom and versatility it gives Jeep owners. By combining the soft top and roof rack, the Exo-Top allows Wrangler owners to spend more time enjoying their Jeep in any setting rather than dealing with a cumbersome soft top and roof rack that were never designed to work together.”
The Rugged Ridge Exo-Top is available for 2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler JK models. The four-door JKU version retails for $1,732.99 and is shipping now from Rugged Ridge and its retail partners. The two-door JK version retails for $1,599.99 and starts shipping this summer. MOTUS just took delivery of the JKU version this week and will be doing a full review and write-up on both the installation and real world testing of the Exo-Top.
